Employment is the main factor in choosing a university abroad

As part of the international research ICEF, a survey was conducted among applicants.In the course of it, the criteria were identified by which students choose one or another higher educational institution abroad.

About forty-five thousand applicants took part in the survey. Most of the students indicated that when choosing a foreign university, they are guided by the results of employment of its graduates. For example, in the UK, university graduates face unemployment problems most often. And this, in turn, affects the country's reputation in attracting applicants to higher education institutions. Therefore, many British graduates choose universities in completely different countries. The state should take serious measures, as inaction in this situation can lead to a decrease in the income received from foreign students.

The demand for education abroad for students is dictated by the following factors:

  • The experience of teachers and their interaction with them

  • The result, which is aimed at employment and professional development

As a percentage, getting a job after graduation again became the main factor for students:

  • 90% - high wages;

  • 90% - getting a job after graduation;

  • 83% - overgrowth with connections, contacts in the learning process.

Now for candidates in the first place are not: meeting new people from different countries, gaining experience in another country. Employment and wages remain the main factors.

After the survey, the authors of the study came to the conclusion that the directions of government reforms should not be limited to successful graduation from the university. The need to gain experience and skills in the chosen profession for further employment is dictated by the present day.
