Boris Nemtsov's paid summer school in Prague

The Summer School of Journalism and Sociocultural Studies – a three-week intensive training program for young journalists, bloggers, media activists from Russia, Ukraine, post-Soviet countries, Europe, and the United States. It is held annually from mid-July to early August in Prague at the Faculty of Philosophy of Charles University. The curriculum includes lectures and seminars by leading journalists and media experts, practical classes in the basics of video and photo shooting, and content distribution on the Internet. The program is interdisciplinary and also includes lectures on the basics of economics, sociology, contemporary art, visits to the largest media outlets in the Czech Republic, and screenings of contemporary documentary films. An important part of the curriculum is the implementation of independent journalistic projects by all participants, which are discussed at special seminars with professional editors. Target audience

Journalists, bloggers, researchers from Russia, Ukraine, the former Soviet Union, Europe, and the United States. The school gives preference to applicants whose experience in journalism or related fields does not exceed three years. Work experience – an optional requirement.

Conditions

All participants in the school are covered by the Nemcov Foundation for the costs of transportation from their place of residence to Prague and back, one month's public transportation passes in Prague, meals and health insurance. The Faculty of Philosophy provides the participants with a dormitory for international students.

Participants who have successfully realized their media project are given a small budget for SMM promotion.
