TestDAF: how to pass perfectly
The DAF test is a standardized test of knowledge of German as a foreign language, aimed at foreign graduates and students who are going to enroll in German universities.The test includes levels B2 – C1.
Test structure
The exam consists of four parts, reflecting different languagecompetencies: understanding of texts, understanding of oral speech, own written speech, conducting a conversation.The test lasts 3 hours 10 minutes, excluding breaks.
Comprehension of texts.Assignment: read three texts and answer 30 questions.The candidate needs to demonstrate their ability to understand texts related to the higher education program.He should answer a series of questions that involve understanding context and details, as well as implicit information.Texts of varying degrees of complexity.The types of texts and questions may vary.The task is given 60 minutes.
Comprehension of oral speech.Assignment: listen to three audio recordings and answer 25 questions.The examinee must demonstrate the ability to perceive and understand audio texts.The types of texts are as follows: dialogue about the student's daily life, radio interviews with several participants, and a short lecture or interview with an expert.The types of audio texts and assignments may vary.The task will take about 40 minutes, depending on the length of the audio recordings.
Own written speech.Assignment: write one work.The test is tested for the ability of the test taker to write a competent text on a specific topic.In the first part of the text, he should analyze the data from the table, and then state his opinion on the issue related to this data.The task is allocated 60 minutes.
Conversation.Assignment: Complete seven oral assignments.The candidate must prove the ability to speak German in different situations.Tasks of different levels of difficulty, in which the candidate must speak on topics related to studying at the university: talking with other students, expressing his own opinion on the issue, formulating hypotheses.The task will take about 30 minutes.
Within 6 weeks, the examinees receive a certificate, where there are marks for all parts of the exam and the level of language proficiency is marked.
How to register for TestDAF?
To take the test, you mustregisteronline, for this you need a passport.In a few days, you will receive a letter of admission to the exam in your mail, where the rules for the day of the exam will also be written.The received confirmation of registration must be printed, signed and brought to the exam along with an identity card.Registration takes place at a limited time: it starts approximately 8 weeks before the exam and ends 4 weeks before the exam.
