Top 3 Budget Cities for Students in Britain

The 2016 NatWest Student Living Index found Portsmouth to be the most budget-funded student city in the UK.Liverpool and Newcastle are also in the top 3 most affordable cities for students.

For the study, 2,500 students across the UK were surveyed to identify the least and most expensive places to study, and more. A number of factors were taken into account, from spending on weekends to the number of hours students spend in class.

Despite the fact that the cost of renting housing in Portsmouth is slightly higher than the national average, students are able to pay for housing here, because many take part-time jobs. Portsmouth is also the UK's most sociable city in the survey.

Edinburgh was named the most expensive city for students. The rent is high here;local students spend the most money on weekends and spend more money on alcohol than the national average.

Surprisingly, students in London spend less than the national average for rent (£ 105.08 per week) on rent, while in prestigious Oxbridge you will have to payabout £ 135.38, which is just above average. It is also worth noting that Oxford and Cambridge have become the cities where students spend the most hours of study.

On average British students spend £ 6.85 per week on alcohol.Students from Newcastle, Glasgow and Reading spend the most on booze: £ 9.32, £ 8.63 and £ 8.50 respectively. In their spare time, students from Edinburgh, Belfast and Newcastle spend more money on entertainment than students from other cities (£ 8.19; £ 7.84 and £ 7.81). The national average is £ 6.65.

According to the survey, only 1/50 of students took into account the cost of education when choosing a university. Students, as it turned out, are more concerned about living costs, programs presented, distance from home and, of course, the reputation of the university.

The study also found that more than half of students experience stress in managing their financial costs.

Most of the money comes to students from their bank loans - on average around £ 161.14in Week. Plus money from parents, like a loan, is still the largest source of income.
