Moscow State University and St. Petersburg State University are among the world's top 100 universities
For the first time two Russian universities were included in the World Reputation Rankings. St. Petersburg State University only made it into the top 100, and Moscow State University improved its position considerably compared to last year, rising to 25th position. This is the highest position ever awarded to a Russian university.
10,000 scientists from 140 countries take part in compiling this ranking. The list is compiled by the Times Higher Education supplement together with Thomson Reuter. According to the results for 2015 2015 St. Petersburg State University is in the eighth top ten of the top 100 universities with the best reputation. And Lomonosov Moscow State University took a place in the sixth top ten in 2014, and this year it has already risen by 25 position. Already that year, the authors of the list noted that the University of Moscow has great potential to improve its position.
Harvard University has been at the top of the ranking for two years now. But other American institutions have lost their position as leaders. The second and third places this year go to British universities - Cambridge University and Oxford, respectively.
