UK Council launches manifesto for international students
February 25, 2015 (12:00).The UK Council on International Student Affairs has launched the International Students Manifesto to change the existing rules and procedures for international student education in the UK.The manifesto includes 10 basic principles and recommendations that are aimed at restoring confidence in the country, changing the image of Great Britain on the world stage and, as a result, increasing the number of people willing to study in educational institutions of the country.
UKCISA CEO Dominic Scott notes that the UK has a wide range of institutions that are willing to accept international students, but admission seems to be an irresistible path. And so now is the turning point when they must improve their reputation.Entry and stay regulations for students are too strenuous and complex. This is the limit on obtaining a student visa, the rules for filing documents and residence in the country and many other restrictions that encourage students to refuse to choose the UK as a place of education. For the UK, investment from international students is a huge budget line.Students place great trust in the country by choosing this place to study. Therefore, they have a say and must be supported by the UK.
Key Principles and Recommendations:
- The financial, cultural and intellectual values of international students in the UK need to be recognized throughout government.
- The rules and procedures that govern international students have become so complex that they now require extensive revision.
- Further activities are being implemented by International Act to follow closely the changes. And if found unproductive, they require exclusion or revision.
- The rules for organizing part-time employment of international students should be standardized.
- All students are eligible for a reduced visa and support during a national crisis or other work.
