Useful programs for students
Students spend most of their time preparing papers and books. To facilitate and diversify the learning process, we have selected several useful programs.
Prezi
Site for those who are tired of PowerPoint.During our studies, we often make presentations and one of the useful alternatives for preparing them is Prezi. The site has free and paid access. To use the free version, register via corporate email.
Here you will find unusual templates and can do animated work. Presentations can only be launched online, which is inconvenient because the university computer must be connected to the network, and sometimes problems arise with this. But if you are sure that everything is in order with the connection in the office, be sure to try this service. You will receive a beautiful, memorable, and most importantly - a structured presentation that will help convey the main points. By the link, you can see an example of working with the site.
Mendeley
Those who have already written term papers, essays, and other works are familiar with the design of footnotes and bibliographies...This is a long and tedious process that is required when preparing any text: without correct footnotes to the source, your work will be considered plagiarism.
Free English-language program Mendeley helps to get rid of routine design. How do I use it? Register on the website and download the program. You can upload the articles you want to read into it, group them by topic or according to another convenient principle. In the upper left part of the program, there is a Tools tab, which contains a button to install a plug-in for MS Word and LibreOffice. After installing it, you can open the coursework document and test the possibilities.
Russian GOST was not initially established among the styles for footnotes. While working with the plugin in the document, click on the Open Mendeley button, then Get More Styles, in the search bar enter GOST and find the style you want in the list. More details about working with citations are written in the instructions on the website of the program.
Zotero
The Russian-language program helps to store, group, and cite documents. The program has special adapters for working in the browsers Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Safari, which allow you to save articles directly to the Zotero library.
You can also use the excellent siteZoteroBib.Working with it is as simple as possible: you copy the link to the article, paste it into a line on the site and get the result by the chosen style.
Google services
Services from Google are known to almost everyone. But let's focus on some very useful tools for the student:
Google Docs and Google Slides. Helps to edit documents together with others. Great for joint exam preparation. A separate plus - your classmates do not need to register to edit the document, because you can simply enable access by reference.
Google Calendar. You can add a study schedule and plan your day. Available for computer and phone. The application has a function that helps you find free time for a hobby or develop new habits.
Google Drive. You can store notes and literature. So you will have access to your library from any device: just log into your account on the site or in the application.
Remember that Google Drive is cloud storage. Therefore, when registering, be sure to come up with a strong password and enable two-factor authentication. Yes, every time you log in, you will have to enter a password from SMS, but this way your data will be better protected.
