Grants for Women Photojournalists
Women are invited to participate in an international photography competition.The organizers will select five winners.The best work will be awarded a cash prize.The winner will receive a grant of $ 10,000 to complete her photography project.
To participate in the competition, you need to send a portfolio of 20-25 photos to demonstrate to the organizers that a significant amount of work on your project has already been completed. The photographer must have a clear idea of how he plans to complete the project and what is required for this. It is necessary to send not individual pictures, but a whole story told through photographs.
The competition is held annually. More than 1,500 applications were reviewed last year. The main prize went to Nadia Shira Cohen from Italy. Her project "Yo No Di a Luz" touches upon a difficult topic - a series of photographs devoted to illegal abortions in the Republic of El Salvador. The photographer showed tragic shots from the life of those who were in difficult situations.
Last year, the jury also noted the work of Tasnim Alsultan from Saudi Arabia dedicated to the Shiaa religious group, Anna Boyiazis from the USA on how women in Zanzibar learn to swim, the work of Etinos Yvonne Osayimwan from Nigeria dedicated to victims of terrorist attacks and others.
