The Centenary Trust for Women at The University of Western Australia (‘the University’) has provided funds to establish a scholarship to assist and encourage an eligible female student experiencing financial hardship, and who demonstrates an interest in science, technology, engineering or mathematics, to undertake a Master of Teaching (Primary) at the University and pursue a career as a primary school teacher to promote science education.

To be eligible to apply for the scholarship, an applicant must
(a) be a female student;
(b) be experiencing financial hardship;1
(c) have completed an undergraduate degree with a science, technology, engineering or mathematics major; and
(d) have applied for a place in the Master of Teaching (Primary) at the University.
1 Financial hardship may be demonstrated by an applicant being in receipt of a means-tested Commonwealth income support payment (such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, Abstudy, etc.) or by submitting a statement of financial hardship. See http://www.scholarships.uwa.edu.au/students/undergrad/financial
1. The scholarship must be taken up in the semester for which it is awarded.
2. To be eligible to take up the scholarship, an awardee must be enrolled—
(a) full-time, unless the selection body is satisfied there are exceptional circumstances2 which preclude full-time enrolment; and
(b) in the Master of Teaching (Primary) at the University.
2 Exceptional circumstances include, but are not limited to, a medical condition or major family commitments.
Applicants will be shortlisted based on academic achievement.
Selection will be made by the selection body, having regard to the shortlisted applicants’ academic records and interview performance.
