Motivation Letter

It is one of the most important documents during the application process. The universities are going to form the first opinion about you based on this, so it is highly recommended to pay attention to every detail while you are preparing it.

Your motivation letter is a written document where you describe clearly your goals and career objectives related to your future project. You explain why you are interested in that particular programme that you selected. Also emphasize how your personal qualities, qualifications and previous experience can contribute to pursuing your studies successfully. Always provide relevant professional and academic information and be as specific and accurate as possible.

It is not necessary to prepare different motivation letters for the different study programmes that you select in your application unless the study fields are completely unrelated.

Tips

  • Pay attention to the writing style and grammar. Keep in mind that this is an important document because the universities are going to have an idea about you based on this when you apply for a bachelor or master degree programme.
  • Provide relevant information which can be important for the university, and indicate clearly the major you are interested in.
  • Try to prepare a unique and creative motivation letter. You should try to leave a positive impression in those who read it and make the selection.
  • It should not be longer than two pages.
  • Do not forget about the format either. It should be written in a letter format and the three main parts should be easily separable: 1. Introduction 2. Content 3. Closing salutation.
As it is a letter, you address it to the higher education institution to which you apply. Do not forget about the date and your signature.
  • Regarding applications for doctoral degree programmes, please also make sure that:

Regarding applications for doctoral degree programmes, please also make sure that:

  • You give clear reasons why your research is important, and your arguments are valid and academically proven.
  • You explain how your previous experience is connected to the research that you intend to carry out.

During the application process, you will have two tasks related to the motivation letter on the http://apply.stipendiumhungaricum.hu online application surface:
