Dentistry

In your first year of the Master in Dentistry, you will study the treatment of complex dental problems and specific groups of patients, such as the elderly, children and people with fear. In the Dentistry clinic you will work in teams with other Dentistry students and students of Dental Hygiene. In time, you will get more responsibilities. At the end of this programme you will not only have learned to cooperate, but you will also be able to treat patients with complex problems. During the second year, you will do an internship in the department of Mouth Diseases and Oral Surgery at the University Medical Center of Groningen (UMCG) or in one of the hospitals in Leeuwarden or Zwolle. Additionally, you will do an internship at an orthodontics clinic and at the outpatients' clinic of the Centre of Dentistry and Dental Hygiene Groningen. You will also carry out a scientific research project on the basis of which you will write a thesis. During your second year, you will choose between several subjects. You may, for example, study periodontology, oral surgery or the treatment of elderly patients. You may also study abroad.
