Academic exchange for teachers in the USA

The University of Michigan Center for Europe and Eurasia in the United States invites faculty from Eastern Europe and Asia to participate in a professional development program. Participants are invited to teach at universities in the following countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Russia (Kaliningrad only), Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Moldova, Serbia, Slovakia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.

Program participants must submit a project (research or educational) in partnership with one of the faculties of the University of Michigan).

Teachers will spend four weeks or three months at the University of Michigan - the project organizers provide 5-7 grants to cover travel, accommodation and other expenses.Faculty members can pursue their project at the university from February to April or from September to November 2018.

Requirements for program participants:

  1. All candidates must have a higher academic degree at the timefiling an application;

  2. The list of participating countries is presented above;

  3. All candidates must teach at the university and return to teaching after completion of the project;

  4. Junior and mid-sized researchers are especially encouraged to participate.

How to apply for participation?

Applicants for the professional development program must submit the following list of documents:

  • Completedquestionnaire;

  • Summary;

  • A copy of your doctoral or higher professional qualifications;

  • Copy of passport (page with photo);

  • A project plan containing the content of the project that you plan to engage in at the University of Michigan, the reason for applying, assumptions about how to participate in this projectwill help the developmentthe participant's university, as well as the rationale for choosing a four-week or three-month program;

  • Invitation from the University of Michigan;

  • Letter of recommendation from the rector or dean of the university;

  • Copy of TOEFL certificate.

Applications are accepted until September 15, 2017.
