Scholarship Guide: Visby Scholarship

Studying in Sweden is attractive to students. For student life, knowledge of English is enough here, the country has a high standard of living, universities offer quality education, educational institutions and the government issue scholarships. Visby Scholarship is a prestigious scholarship from the Swedish Institute that extends to many programs and universities in Sweden. What is covered

The scholarship is fully funded, namely:

  • Monthly grant of 9000 SEK for accommodation;

  • Payment of the fee for the entire period of study;

  • Medical insurance;

  • Flight grant SEK 5,000;

  • Membership in the SI Network for Future Global Leaders (NFGL). The community gives graduates the opportunity to learn more about Sweden, attend seminars, workshops, meetings with companies. They also issue tickets to events from other organizations.

Thus, the program not only does not imply your further return to your homeland, but also helps to integrate into Swedish society.

A total of about 50 participants receive an offer from the Swedish Institute. There are no reserve sheets, because each time they offer a little more scholarships than possible: not all students agree.

Requirements for applicants

Graduates from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Republic of Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine are considered for scholarships. Applicants must demonstrate good academic performance and leadership qualities.

You must upload your CV, letter of recommendation and motivation letter with your scholarship application. You also need to fulfill the requirements of your chosen program and provide a complete package of documents.Most often it includes:

  • Passport data;

  • Diploma or transcripts;

  • If you are in your final year of undergraduate studies, thenyou need a certificate from the university about your studies;

  • Letter of recommendation;

  • Summary;

  • Motivation letter;

  • Some universities require the submission of a piece of academic paper or a plan for further research.

How to apply

There are four main steps in the process:

  1. Annually on the website scholarships post an updated list of universities and programs that are covered by funding.Before applying, you need to familiarize yourself with this list and choose 4 programs that suit you. All information about specific courses can be obtained on the university website: basic requirements for applicants, duration of study, structure, templates.

  2. When you have made your choice, by January 15, you need to upload all the documents required for admission to the website Universityadmissions.se is a general electronic system where applicants upload applications. This is also where you prioritize the selected programs.By the way, some of the universities offer their scholarships on condition that you put them first on the list.For example, these are the requirements for a scholarship from Uppsala University.In most cases, separate applications for these scholarships are not required, and you can apply for them when applying for Visby.

  3. Until February 1 (after uploading the documents), you must pay a non-refundable fee of 900 Swedish kronor, which is approximately equal to 6800 rubles.

  4. Visby Scholarship applications are open from 2 to 9 February. On the scholarship website, in your personal account, you need to select the programs for which you applied, upload your resume, a separate recommendation and motivation letter for the scholarship. The latter have a clear structure and include the question of solving a problem in your country.

  5. In May, a list of students who have received a scholarship is posted on the site. The list indicates the number under whichyou are registered at Universityadmissions.se, and the program.I also receive an e-mail.

It is also important to know

  • The status of your application for admission (not scholarship) can besee at Universityadmissions.se. There will be information about whether she is being considered, rejected, or you are being accepted into the program.

  • The website states that it is better to download all documents for admission and scholarship in advance. This is not written in vain: the experience of applicants last year showed that already a few hours before the deadline, the system is overloaded and malfunctions. You just won't be able to download the application.

  • When applying, please note the deadline: it is based on CET, which depends on the season.
