The Swedish Institute is a public agency that encourages interest and trust in Sweden around the world. We operate in the fields of culture, education, science and business in seeking to strengthen ties and promote development.
Highlighting themes of relevance to both Sweden and the outside world, such as innovation, sustainability, culture and social issues, we offer tools and support to those wishing to communicate the story of Sweden.
We engage in international cooperation through our own communication with target groups abroad and by providing support for other actors’ communication on the subject of Sweden. By constantly developing our communication and our support in terms of methodology, technology, form and content, we ensure that we are relevant to individuals and others wishing to act in international contexts.
We are looking for applicants who display both intellectual ability and leadership potential and welcome applicants regardless of age, gender and religious beliefs. The scholarship programme aims for diversity among the scholarship holders.
The scholarship is free of tax and amounts to SEK 9,000 per month.
The scholarship also includes a travel grant of SEK 5,000 for students at one-year master’s programmes, and an additional SEK 5,000 for two-year master’s programmes.
SI pays the tuition fee directly to the university in Sweden.
You may apply to a maximum of four different master’s programmes in total, but make sure to first check whether the programmes are listed as eligible for the scholarship.
Please note that you need to submit a separate copy of your scholarship application for each eligible master’s programme that you have applied to. For example, if you have applied to the maximum of four master’s programmes, you must submit four separate online scholarship applications. Each application must have a motivation letter, a letter of reference, and a CV attached. You may use the same for all applications, or create unique ones for each programme.
