American Studies

A study of American society and culture is of value not only for the general development of the mind but as a necessary part of the intellectual development of an engaged individual in the modern world.Students gain the opportunity to consider the United States from a variety of disciplinary and methodological perspectives with the intent of acquiring the ability to synthesize knowledge, hone critical thinking skills and models of reflection, and produce sustained analyses of various trends, movements, and policies.
