Art History

Offered jointly by the University of Adelaide and the Art Gallery of South Australia, students can review the collections of the Gallery, together with instruction given by curatorial and academic staff at both associations and from national experts. On-campus classes are held afterhours, together with lectures and tutorials held at the University, combined with'hands-on' workshops at the memorial. By exercising the attention as well as your brain, students are able to thoroughly explore - insitu or virtually, the rich collections and exhibits of the Art Gallery of South Australia. Students are invited to consider questions and issues reflected in specific works of art, including their: roots and manufacture; critical reception; material essay; mixed targets in the foundation of preference; subject matter; place in the life's work of the artist that left them; and so on. Students become familiar with the issues associated with curating exhibitions and the key questions related to connoisseurship. They'll develop the research skills required to explore essential issues in art history, for example skills in visual analysis.
