The one-year programme includes history, literature, art and art history, media and cultural studies, religious studies, philosophy, and philology. Expertise in Leiden on Asia covers all Asian regions: East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia. The programme allows students a considerable degree of freedom and individual specialisation by country, region, discipline, or field. Within the history, art and culture specialisations, knowledge of an Asian language is not required, but you will have the option of taking an intensive modern language course at beginner's level in Japanese, Indonesian, Chinese, Korean or Hindi.
