This laboratory-based program intends to provide students broad-ranging skills required to excel at the fast growing field of biotechnology. The curriculum covers vital components of biotechnology and the misuse of molecular biological data. Students have the possibility to do the complete year of laboratory-based research and take part in multiple weekly practicals. The course includes a strong research focus and allows students to function at a specifically designed laboratory, and take part in industry visits and at weekly practicals. Students will spend 25-30 hours at the laboratory each week throughout next year. Bio technology is becoming more and more fundamental to many different industries, including medicine, diagnostics, agriculture, environmental protection, food technology and renewable resources technology.
- Applicants have to have an Australian Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent), containing at least two years (four semesters) of sciences, also include the research of two semesters of biochemistry, microbiology, immunology, cell biology, genetics or biotechnology in second-year degree or above
- International students must satisfy the relevant academic and English language requirements
- NB: prep minimal requirements will not guarantee an offer of a location. Entrance in to all La Trobe courses is based on competitive selection and there may be limited places available.
