Chemistry

Chemistry is part of almost every aspect of our contact with the physical world. Our undergraduate program focuses on the fundamental principles that are essential to understanding everything from smog to the colour of gemstones. Our research-active faculty members provide students with an excellent foundation in chemistry, necessary for developing innovative ideas that lead to such applications as controlled drug-release medications and new water treatment methods. Students from first to fourth year are routinely hired in the Department of Chemistry to contribute to faculty research projects. Our graduates continue to meet with success in graduate schools, health professions, the business science world, and the technical workplace.The co-op program is designed for students who wish to gain relevant work experience while attending university.
