Practitioners in the field of early childhood education face many challenges, engaging in complex relationships with parents, communities and governments. Child Studies at Carleton prepares you for a career in this demanding field and is the only program in Canada designed and developed specifically for graduates of the Early Childhood Education (ECE) program. An ECE diploma is required for admission.If selected for admission to the Child Studies program, you will be granted five credits upon admission in recognition of your ECE diploma, allowing you to enter directly into second year. Through your core courses in psychology and sociology, you will build on your previous knowledge and gain a thorough understanding of child development, childrenпПХs rights and changing social values. Additional courses in the arts and sciences provide a broad background to your studies as well as the ability to critically analyze, evaluate and respond to a variety of issues.
