Civil Engineering is a broad engineering discipline with a variety of unique and interesting sub-disciplines. Ranked in the World’s Top 40 Universities by Shanghai Jiao Tong University Institute of Higher Education and 38th by Engineering and Information Technology schools, The Department of Civil Engineering at UBC is renowned for its dedication to world-class research and state-of-the art facilities.

The Masters of Engineering (M.Eng.) program is suited to students who wish to pursue a graduate degree in a non-thesis based research program.

The M.Eng. Program requires completion of at least 30 credits of coursework beyond the Bachelor’s degree level. Students are required to obtain approval of their course selection from their Specialty Advisor.
Normally, applicants for a master's degree program must hold the academic equivalent of a four-year bachelor's degree from UBC including one of the following:A minimum overall average in the B+ range (76% at UBC) in third- and fourth-year courses.Academic standing with at least 12 credits of third- or fourth-year courses in the A grade range (80% or higher at UBC) in the field of study. English Language Requirements IELTS band: 7 TOEFL paper-based test score : 600 TOEFL iBT® test: 100

Accreditation

The program is accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB) and thus meets the academic requirements needed to attain the “Professional Engineer” (P.Eng.) designation in Canada. Graduates who wish to become specialized engineering consultants in one of the subdisciplines usually return to complete a Master’s degree.
