Do you have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar? Are you looking for a professional career? Do you want to become more attractive in the labour market? Do you think that a two-year master is too long? Then this programme is for you!

The Master's Programme (One Year) in Computer and Systems Sciences is a one-year postgraduate programme for those who already have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar. The programme suits those who wish to broaden and deepen their skills and knowledge as a preparation for a successful professional career. It is also suitable if you have studied at another university and want to be closer to the labour market in the Stockholm region. In addition to being on site in Stockholm, you can meet with companies either on your own or at trade shows such as Systemvetardagen, where some thirty IT companies come to DSV to make contacts.

Compared with the Bachelor's level, you get a deeper knowledge on information technology, its role in business and society, and how it interacts with humans. You will also get glimpses of emerging trends in the field and how future information technology could be used. The programme gives you both a thorough knowledge and practical skills in the area or areas (course blocks) you select. The one-year programme is focused on advanced courses and includes a short thesis.

Career
The programme is suitable for students aiming for a professional career, for example as IT architects, business architects, project managers, database architects, systems analysts, or application developers. Depending on the block of courses chosen, the student will be prepared for work in the fields business intelligence, usability engineer, web designer, interface designer, or become an expert on security, risk managment or digital forensics.

Depending on the block you choose courses from, the programme prepares you for work in business intelligence, usability engineer, web designer, interface designer, or become an expert on security, risk or digital forensics. For further career options, read more in the different block descriptions. If you're more interested in an academic or other research career, we recommend our two-year master's programmes.

The programme consists of a set of recommended course blocks from which you choose courses within the fields where you wish to broaden or deepen your knowledge. There are a variety of courses to choose from in areas such as information security, IT management, information systems, interaction design, outsourcing and business intelligence. During the second semester, you also will write a thesis of 15 credits.
