Course Content
The core themes of the course include: construction technology, building science and structures, the legal and regulatory framework of building, engineering surveying and construction processes, construction management, contractual procedures, and construction finance.
In the first year you will be introduced to the fundamental topics of building design and the construction process which are essential to practitioners in all of the construction professions. The first year will be taught in common with other building disciplines (Architectural Technology, Building Surveying, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management) giving you the opportunity to experience and understand the construction team and enable transfer between courses.
Your second and final years will then develop more advanced knowledge of construction technology and management practice, and take you through the finer details, including law, finance and management skills, preparing you for a career in construction management.
Your timetable has a range of learning opportunities, from lectures, seminars and tutorials to laboratories, workshops and studio sessions. You will also be allocated a personal tutor, who will review and discuss your progress with you, and will be available for advice.
You will work with staff on real-world problems from industry, commerce and research groups, as you would in professional practice; this means that you can develop all of the professional skills at the same time as you learn the technical content of your degree.

Merit Scholarship SchemeMerit Scholarship scheme: £1,000, in year one only and based on academic performance.
- Available to all international students applying for full-time undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at Coventry University.
- Scholarships are allocated on the basis of academic merit. (Postgraduate applicants must hold 2.1 or equivalent, undergraduate applicants must hold A-levels or equivalent at grades BBC)
- There is no separate scholarship application process: all undergraduate applications from self-funded international students from any non-EU country and postgraduate applications from international, will automatically be considered for a merit award. You will not have to do anything, if you are successful you will be notified in due course by the International Office.
