Study music online
Our Bachelor of Creative Arts (Music) is increasingly recognised as one of the most innovative in Australia. We understand that 21st century musicians must be flexible, resilient, creative, collaborative and adaptable. You will undertake a holistic program of learning, which values musical diversity and integrated theory with practice and music technology. You will learn within an exciting and collaborative environment alongside industry professionals.
From 2015, the entire Music discipline in the Bachelor of Creative Arts can be studied online (as well as on campus) for those students who are travelling or unable to attend classes in Toowoomba.
After completing your first year, you then have the opportunity to specialise in contemporary singing, guitar, song writing. You may also combine disciplines within creative arts or other areas of study.
Practical experience
Our students have many opportunities to perform publicly in our award-winning Arts Theatre, and in larger projects such as the Your Song, My Way concert series, and our annual To Glee or Not To Glee event. You can also explore your own interests through tailored projects. Recent examples include recording a worship EP from independent release and composing the score for the annual Shakespeare in the Park Festival.
Students in the Bachelor of Creative Arts have the opportunity to choose one of a series of extended majors offered as part of their selected specialisation. An extended major is a specified group of courses with values of 16, 20, or 24 units.
- Music (16 unit Major)
- Music (20 unit Major)
- Music (24 unit Major).
The following eight-unit Creative Arts majors can be combined with a 16 unit extended major as a second major:
- Film, Television, and Radio (8 unit Major)
- Theatre Practice (8 unit Major)
- Theatre Theory (8 unit Major)
- Visual Arts Practice (8 unit Major)
- Visual Arts Theory (8 unit Major)
With approval, students are able to take one major or minor/elective study from other undergraduate programs offered by USQ.
