Course Content
In your first year you will develop an understanding of key concepts such as hazard, vulnerability and risk and, in addition, procedures in the command and control of emergency incidents.
In the second year you will study the human environment and identify how certain locations, communities or institutions are especially sensitive to the impact of disaster as a result of their precondition. You will also develop practical skills in methods for assessing vulnerability and risk, developing plans and managing emergency response.
In your final year you are encouraged to evaluate and critically analyse issues that face the emergency management profession in the UK and internationally. You will also have the opportunity to carry out an independent piece of research. Many students choose to base this on the work they were involved with during their professional training year.
