Leaders of vision with a skill set for the 21st century are needed to anticipate and shape the opportunities for growing success. Developing this calibre of person requires investment in innovative programmes; one such programme is the Executive Masters in Hospitality and Tourism Leadership, brought to life by a powerful, pioneering partnership of industry and academic experts.

The International Leadership School in Scotland (ILSS), has enlisted internationally acclaimed Strathclyde Business School to drive this innovative leadership programme while receiving support from Cornell University and Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, two leading hospitality management schools...

The Executive Masters in Hospitality and Tourism Leadership is a challenging, international experience, fully designed to address the management education needs of the hospitality and tourism sector's leaders of tomorrow.

Over the course of two years, participants will undertake a total of twelve intensive modules, studying with like-minded executives in the UK , the United States and Switzerland.

The first six modules are delivered at the Strathclyde Business School's city centre campus in the heart of Glasgow, Scotland.

The subsequent six modules are delivered at the Strathclyde Business School and on the campuses of Cornell University, in Ithaca, New York, and Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL) in Switzerland.

Each module will be delivered in intensive seminar mode over a three day period to ensure participants never have to take too much time out of their work schedules at any one time. During these intensive seminars, the learning experience will involve a stimulating combination of lectures, industry guest speakers, group work and company case study activity, all facilitated and co-ordinated by senior faculty members of the partner institutions. Wrapped around the delivery of each intensive module will be interactive learning opportunities via a programme-specific virtual learning environment, allowing participants real time access to their tutors and fellow students to develop shared learning and engage in debate about module themes and assessment.

Modules will be highly participative, so participants can expect to challenge and be challenged, by both faculty and fellow participants. Given the breadth of work experience and diversity of background of participants, the networking opportunities and ongoing exchange are anticipated to continue outside of the classroom, and hopefully long after graduation.

The final element of the programme involves a real life business analysis exercise, followed by the Leadership project. The final project can be undertaken as an individual piece of work, or as a group exercise. Successful completion of this project leads to the award of the Masters degree; exit points, after Module 6 and Module 12, result in the award of a postgraduate Certificate or Diploma respectively.

Assessment during study will be a combination of coursework (group and individual), examinations and assessment of the final Leadership project.
