Our healthcare programmes have been developed for people with backgrounds in health-related disciplines such as allied health, midwifery, medicine, health leadership, management, service development, quality assurance and education.
With a Master of Health Care (MHC) you will have an advanced and sophisticated knowledge of complex healthcare systems that you can use to manage change and improve outcomes in your chosen field. You will also have acquired research skills, which enable you to take new and innovative approaches to addressing health service issues. By developing excellent theoretical and practical skills further, you will position yourself as a leader in your workplace.
The Master of Health Care (MHC) comprises eight courses in total (240pts). To gain a Master of Health Care (MHC) you will need to successfully complete the following courses:
Part One
Postgraduate Certificate in Health Care (60 points)
- Two 30-point approved courses from HLTH 501-518, HLTH 521-550
Postgraduate Diploma in Health Care (60 points)
- HLTH 522 Health Systems, Policy and Practice
- HLTH 528 Evaluating Practice
The compulsory courses can be completed during the PGCertHC, the PGDipHC or split between them.
Part Two (120 points)
Students can choose to undertake coursework or focus on research courses to complete the Master of Health Care (120pts).

- Two further approved 30-point courses from HLTH 501-518, HLTH 521-550
- HLTH 519 Research Review
- HLTH 520 Practice Placement

Research Focus
- HLTH 521 Research Methods
- HLTH 596 Thesis (90pts)

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a health-related area, at least two years' professional work in health care
- IELTS: minimum overall score of 7.0 with no sub-score below 7.0
