Jewish studies accompanies the academic exploration of Judaism with study of languages, history, philosophy, literature and culture from its beginnings to the present.
The emphasis of the Master of Arts in Jewish Studies is the diversity and the wealth of the Jewish tradition from biblical and rabbinical times up to modernity, the principle areas of teaching and research being: modern Jewish history and cultural history, Jewish-Christian dialogue, Jewish ethics, Jewish law, Judaism and Islam.
Candidates may enrich their degree with coursework in the area of Philosophy, History, Sociology, Study of Religions, or Cultural and Social Anthropology, or indeed from the Law or Theology departments of the University of Lugano, or even at another Swiss university.
