Labour Studies Concentration

Labour Studies is an interdisciplinary program which draws on history, sociology, political economy, women's studies, industrial relations, and other fields in assessing the place of labour and working people in society. The Athabasca University Labour Studies program is unique in Canada in that it is the only program of its kind in the country that is available entirely via distance education. Students will: appropriately relate practice and/or lessons to the goals of the degree or discipline; show some insights into ethical questions, with discussion of the elements of solutions, their sources, and qualities of evidence for their resolution; conduct independent research with some complexity and depth; draw on a sufficient range of learning to confidently and efficiently pursue degree goals and disciplinary objectives.Athabasca UniversityпПХs Labour Studies program is designed for students who want to know more about the position of labour and working people in society. It will be of particular interest to trade unionists at both the leadership and general membership levels.
