The Doctor of Philosopy Degree (Ph.D.) program in Management Sciences is for advanced graduate students with a strong research interest in the management sciences.
Ph.D. candidates in management science are very research oriented and work well with individual supervision.
Students in the Ph.D. program are expected to complete several courses (depending on prior coursework), pass a comprehensive exam, and submit a Ph.D. thesis of independent and original work. The program takes most students four to five years of full-time study.

PhD Comprehensive Examination
Students must pass a comprehensive examination, normally taken within 16 months of commencing the program. This examination will focus on three issues:
- Suitability of the proposed thesis topic.
- Adequacy of the preparation of the student for completing the proposed research.
- Knowledge of the fundamental concepts of the management sciences.
PhD Thesis
Students must submit and defend a thesis.
Requirements
- A Master's degree with at least an 83% average and evidence of ability to pursue independent research.
- Background in quantitative methods (e.g., Calculus, Linear Algebra, Probability and Statistics).
- All applicants must submit a "Statement of Purpose" - a one page statement addressing their academic background, area of research interest, proposed research studies.
