This programme is designed to help you develop a comprehensive understanding of the theory and practice of museology and is amongst the most successful museum studies programmes internationally.

During this programme you will:

* gain the skills and knowledge required to work in the museum sector on graduation
* study in an environment responsive to the professional requirements and skills needs of the museum sector, both nationally and internationally
* undertake an employer-based placement that provides the opportunity to explain your understanding of a particular organisation and to reflect on the deepening of your own knowledge and understanding of the sector
* be exposed to a range of learning opportunities (in relation to analytical, key, research and subject-specific skills) within the museum, gallery and heritage sectors, with a specific emphasis on museum studies

Study visits are key to this programme, providing you with an insight into the workings of many different types of heritage sites, galleries, and museums. The employer-based learning placement module equips you with further valuable practical skills.

An upper-second-class Honours degree, or international equivalent, in any subject.We will also consider applicants on an individual basis with non-standard qualifications and/or relevant professional experience in the museum, gallery and heritage sectors.Where applicants have borderline or non-standard qualifications we may contact you to request additional information, and/or, in some instances, to request you attend an interview (these may be in person, via telephone or Skype).Applicants whose first language is not English require IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.0 in writing and speaking and a minimum of 5.5 in other sub-skills), Pearson's PTE Academic Test 62 or equivalent (with a minimum of 54 in speaking and writing and 51 in listening and reading). English Language Requirements IELTS band: 6.5 IMPORTANT NOTE: Since April 2014 the ETS tests (including TOEFL and TOEIC) are no longer accepted for Tier 4 visa applications to the United Kingdom. The university might still accept these tests to admit you to the university, but if you require a Tier 4 visa to enter the UK and begin your degree programme, these tests will not be sufficient to obtain your Visa.
