Music plays a significant role in every part of society, bridging cultural and generational differences, and involving us in a physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual way. As an art form, Music increases our aesthetic involvement and appreciation. As a discipline, Music fosters creativity through both right-brain and left-brain stimulation, and cross-brain activity. Concordia's Music program gives you a background in three areas: first, performance, rehearsal and practice through ensemble and/or studio study; second, history, research and appreciation through classroom study; and third, analysis and writing through theory, ear-training, and composition.A Music concentration provides the appropriate background for these career options: performance and conducting; teaching in public or private schools or the private studio; music ministry; publishing, editing, and distributing; recording and broadcasting; marketing and sales; management; music therapy; musical theatre.
