Course Content
The Music Department offers a comprehensive music program within the context of a public research university.We have degree programs extending from the baccalaureate to the doctorate. Specializations include classical performance in voice, keyboard, guitar and orchestral instruments, conducting, theory, composition, musicology, jazz studies, and music education. We also have two certificate programs in recording arts for music technology and a Music Program in American Language Studies.
All music degree programs aim to develop well-educated professional musicians who have a deep historical and theoretical understanding of all aspects of music. The diversity of faculty specializations provides a breadth of expertise rarely encountered in other programs.
