Neuroscience applies the basic principles of biology, chemistry, physics, and psychology to the study of the nervous system and how it functions. This multidisciplinary field presents many challenging questions in areas such as learning and memory, neurological disease, and neural development. You will have opportunities to carry out experimental research under the supervision of faculty members in the Institute of Neuroscience. Examples of research within Neuroscience include the effects of stress and depression on immune response, the neurological processes involved in epilepsy and learning, disorders of the central nervous system including AlzheimerпПХs Disease, and the neural basis of drug abuse.
