Description

This programme is developed to prepare nurses for working in a complex and dynamic health care sector, with increasing demands of providing best practice based on evidence. Prospective candidates are registered nurses who want to achieve a Degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing, an acedemic qualification recognised in the Bologna declaration.

The tuition fees for the Bachelor programme at the School of Health Sciences is SEK 20 000 for the first semester and the total cost for the programme is SEK 90 000.

Course Content

The programme consists of the following four modules:

  • Philosophy of science and research designs, 7,5 ECTS-credits
  • Nursing theories / concepts and patient communication - an international perspective, 7,5 ECTS credits
  • Thesis, 15 ECTS credits

Students will study on a part time basis. Each module in the programme can be taken as a separate module.

Requirements

All prospective candidates must be registered nurses. Proficiency in oral and written English is required. Principle of selection is time of professional practice.

The language of study at JIBS is English. All applicants are required to meet the standard English Language requirements corresponding to English B in the Swedish upper secondary school. We accept the following language tests:

  • TOEFL*: with a minimum score of 550 with at least 4,0 in Written test (TWE)" (paper based), 213 with at least 4,0 in Essay Rating" (computer-based) or 79 with at least 17 in Written test (TWE)"(Internet-based). Jönköping University TOEFL code 8487 / Central Admissions Office TOEFL code: 9520
  • IELTS: with an overall band score of 6.0 and no part under 5.0.
  • Cambridge/Oxford (Advanced or Proficiency)

Scholarships from Jönköping University

Jönköping University offers some scholarships on behalf of the Swedish government. The scholarships, intended for students who pay tuition fees, will cover a part of said tuition fee. The application for scholarships is open until 15 April 2013. The scholarships are a possibility for students to be financially supported during their period of study at Jönköping University.

Swedish Institute Scholarships

The Swedish Institute, a government agency, administers over 500 scholarships each year for students and researchers coming to Sweden to pursue their objectives at a Swedish university. The Swedish Institute will be offering a limited number of scholarships to students from outside the EU/EEA. Applicants will be able to indicate their interest in a scholarship when applying through universityadmissions.se.

Scholarship programme targeting countries with which Sweden has long-term development cooperation.
These countries are Bangladesh, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. The scholarships will be administered by the Swedish Institute and will cover both living costs and tuition fees.

Guest Scholarship Program for master level studies in Sweden
The objective of the scholarship program is to promote democratic, economic and social development through supporting know-how and transfer of knowledge to advanced students within areas in which Sweden is at the forefront of academic research.

Countries: The program is only available to citizens of the following countries: Albania, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Georgia, Kenya, Kosovo, Mali, Moçambique, Moldova, Rwanda, Serbia, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.

The Visby Program for master level studies in Sweden
The aim of the program is to create more extensive joint collaboration between Sweden and the program countries on education and research and to strengthen the networks in the region. Countries: The master scholarships within the program are targeted at citizens of Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine.

Swedish-Turkish Scholarship Program
This is a program for citizens of Turkey. Its purpose is to support master level or advanced level studies within selected subject areas at a Swedish Institution of higher education.
The scholarship covers living expenses for one person during two semesters with a possibility of prolongation, and travel expenses to and from Sweden. To apply, follow the standardized application on studyinsweden.se.

Scholarships offered by other organizations

STINT
The Swedish Foundation for International Cooperation in Research and Higher Education, has a scholarship program for foreign students accepted to international master programs in Sweden. STINT has invited a number of foreign universities to nominate candidates to the program. Currently these universities are Tecnologico de Monterrey ITESM in Mexico, KNUST in Ghana, KAIST in South Korea, Peking University and Tsinghua University, both in China.

Students must apply themselves to the international master programmes at a Swedish university. The foreign partner universities then have the opportunity of nominating candidates to the programme. Students cannot apply for scholarships on their own.

The law firm Mannheimer Swartling awards a scholarship each year to a German law student wishing to study in Sweden. The scholarship is open to anyone who has completed at least half of their studies for a law degree in Germany, or who has recently graduated in law and wishes to complement with a Swedish master´s degree. Pakistan

Pakistan Overseas Scholarship Scheme
In 2004 Sweden was selected as a country of destination for candidates in Pakistan´s Overseas Scholarship Scheme for Master and PhD in selected fields.The scheme is financed and administered by the Higher Education Commission (HEC).

The stated aim of the program is to improve Pakistan´s national research capacity. TheSwedish Institute acts as a national program agency in Sweden. Please note that the Swedish Institute does not accept applications to this program. All inquiries regarding admissions and submissions of applications to the program should be directed to HEC.

General critieria:
Country: This scholarship program is exclusively open to Pakistani nationals that have received a HEC scholarship.
Study levels: Master´s and PhD.
Eligible subjects and programs: The programme is open for studies in all academic subjects.
Scholarship benefits and limitations: The scholarship amounts to 900 Euro per month for MA and PhD students. The scholarship is fully financed by the Higher Education Commission in Pakistan.
Travel grants: Scholarship holders receive a travel grant for a trip to and from Sweden.

Saudi Arabia

King Abdullah Foreign Scholarship Program
This scholarship program provides the means to pursue studies that lead to degrees (bachelor, master and doctorate) and medical fellowships. Academic disciplines and scholarships are selected on the needs of government ministries, national corporations and the private sector. This selection aims to fulfill the requirements of work markets across Saudi Arabia in regions, universities and industrial cities. The program is commissioned with qualifying Saudi youth to take an active role in development in all fields in government and private sectors. Mission :To actively develop and qualify Saudi human resource to be:

1. World-competitive in the work market and academic research, 2. High caliber base in Saudi universities, public and private sectors.
King Abdullah Scholarships provide generous financial support for scholarship recipients. Among the privileges it offers are the following:
· Monthly stipend
· Full tuition and fees paid directly to the educational institution
· Cost of attending conferences, symposia and workshops
· Expenses for scientific trips
· Allowances for books & clothes
· Financial support for spouse and dependents

Qatar

The Higher Education Institute
The Higher Education Institute´s scholarship office is responsible for administering scholarship programs which enable students to be supported in undergraduate and post-graduate studies at the best higher education institutions in Qatar and around the world. This office is also responsible for following up on scholarship recipients´ financial and administrative affairs, and monitoring their academic progress by communicating with their respective universities, guardians and the students themselves.
In November 2009, the Higher Education Institute updated the list of the best colleges and universities from around the world that students can attend with scholarship support from the government. The list, which now totals 675 schools, ensures scholarship recipients in Qatar will be receiving the best post-secondary education possible. Also, in November 2009, the HEI announced the Hamad bin Khalifa and the Tamim bin Hamad Grants Programs, which will offer high achieving students scholarships to 30 select universities.

The American Women's Club in Sweden
The AWC annually awards a travel grant to an Americanwoman studying in Sweden.
The scholarship which is based on academic excellence, is awarded in the form of a travel grant for $1,500. The grant was initiated to cover the cost of a round-trip airplane ticket between the US and Sweden.

In order to qualify for the AWC Scholarship, the applicant must be 18 years old or older, an American female citizen, and accepted for a period of study or research at a Swedish educational institute during 2012/2013.

The American Swedish Institute
The ASI offers two scholarships: The Lilly Lorénzen Scholarship, open to Minnesota residents who plan to carry out scholarly and/or creative studies in Sweden; and the Malmberg Scholarship, to support a year of study or research in Sweden by a US resident who is enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited college or university, or who is a qualified scholar engaged in study or research.

The Malmberg Scholarship for study in Sweden will grant significant funding (up to $10,000) for up to one year of study or research in Sweden to a U.S. resident who is either (a) a student enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited college or university in the U.S. whose current study can be supplemented by time in Sweden, or (b) a qualified scholar engaged in study or research in the U.S. whose work can be enhanced by study in Sweden.
