The Master of Orthoptics offers the broadest comprehensive expertise, expertise and skills to work as an orthoptist from the multi disciplinary eye health sector sector. Innovative and practice-based in process, it empowers the development of specialist knowledge and techniques while preparing students for changing clinics in response to new signs and rapidly emerging medical engineering. This training course is delivered in an student-focused manner that incorporates theoretical knowledge with professional training and building on strong links with the orthoptic profession as well as other professional groups engaged with eye and vision care with industry. Throughout the course, students undertake clinical trials at various internet websites, including hospitals, private clinics and rehab settings. Students are encouraged to carry clinical trials in regional and rural areas of Australia including Native American populations, while there is also opportunity to tackle approved international placements. On-campus learning occurs in the Graduate School of Health's state-of-the-art centers, which started in 2015. Students have the ability to improve their leadership skills while learning from internationally recognised teachers and teachers, and by practitioners that have reached the forefront of implementing new information and technologies in clinical practice. The course aims to prepare graduates to excel in the clinical environment and meet substantial demand for orthoptists in the public and private practice. Career options involve orthoptist.
- Applicants should have completed a UTS approved bachelor's degree, or an equivalent or higher qualification, or submitted other evidence of general and professional credentials which demonstrates possibility to pursue graduate studies. Some applicants need to take up a brief meeting with a panel. Applicants are evaluated in the areas of communication skills, interpersonal skills, interest in eye health insurance and devotion to orthoptics as a career. The English competency requirement for international students or regional applicants with international credentials is: Academic IELTS: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0
