The aim of this program is to teach project management with significant theoretical underpinning to be implemented across various areas of work, industries, disciplines and cultures. The program prepares students for leadership in the project management profession.

Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion, students will have the skills and knowledge to:

  1. initiate, plan, execute, control, evaluate and close projects to deliver agreed scope within time and budget constraints;
  2. report and explain project status to a range of stakeholder audiences;
  3. explain the links between projects, business outcomes and organisational strategy;
  4. manage and lead projects, including those that are complex and involve organisational change; and,
  5. articulate the relationship between theory, including contemporary research in project management, and best practice.

The Master of Project Management requires the completion of 96 units, which must consist of:

24 units from completion of the following preparatory courses:

MGMT7030 Foundations of Management

MGMT7165 Innovation and Commercialisation

 

48 units from the completion of the following courses in project management:

BUSN7024 Project Management Principles

BUSN8005 Project Accounting and Financial Management

BUSN8062 Managing Major Projects: The Cross-Boundary Project Executive

ENGN8100 Introduction to Systems Engineering

MGMT7029 Leading Through Change

MGMT7169 A Management Framework for Business Projects

MGMT7170 Tools and Techniques for Business Project Management

MGMT8005 Project Risk and Issue Management

 

24 units of elective courses offered by ANU

A Bachelor Degree or international equivalent with an average mark of at least 65%.

All applicants must meet the University's English Language Admission Requirements for Students

Applicants with a Bachelor degree in a cognate discipline may be eligible for 24 units (1 semester) of credit.

Applicants with a Graduate Diploma or Honours in a cognate discipline may be eligible for 48 units (2 semesters) of credit.

Applicants with relevant work experience may be eligible for 24 units (1 semester) of credit.

Applicants with a Graduate Certificate or equivalent professional/executive training such as a pre-masters program, in a cognate discipline may be eligible for 24 units (1 semester) of credit.

The maximum credit that may be granted for a combination of cognate study and relevant work experience is 48 units (2 semesters).
