This course trains psychology scholars in clinical psychology, to fulfill certain needs of registration to practise as psychologists. The course contains three main components - coursework in professional and clinical psychology, supervised practicum placements, and also a research thesis and project. Course work delivery is using a mix of lectures, seminars, practical exercises, written composition, and skills demonstration and practice. Work is assessed through written reports, including case presentations, professional portfolios and observation by supervisors and also the program organizer. The research project involves an overview of relevant literature causing a research question, design and behavior of a suitable analysis, data collection and analysis, and preparation of a thesis composed of their literature review and also a written study of the study. The thesis is assessed by separate examination. USC's postgraduate psychology programs are taught at the Sunshine Coast Mind and Neuroscience - based Thompson Institute. A hub for mental health research, clinical and teaching services, this facility can be found at Birtinya, minutes from the Sunshine Coast University Hospital. The Institute's focus would be to tackle mental health issues in the community, particularly those affecting our childhood, teenagers and elderly community members.

Licensed by The Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) and Accepted by The Australian Psychological Society (APS) College of Clinical Psychologists like a fifth and Fifth year program in Psychology, graduates of the Program are eligible to apply to the Psychology Board of Australia (PBA) for general Enrollment. Graduates are eligible for Associate Membership of the Australian Psychological Society's College of Clinical Psychologists.

  • Successful completion of an APAC accredited four-year amount or fourth year in Psychology in the previous 10 years
  • Or An upper second class Honours (2A) OR psychologists with demonstrated equivalent experience and compliance with PsyBA CPD requirements
  • Or Applicants will need to have general enrollment or meet the requirements for provisional registration as a psychologist using an Psychology Board of both Australia
  • or Provide of a statute location.
