The Graduate Diploma in Quality Management is a full-time programme Students who attain 2.1 honours standard at the end of the first year may transfer to the Masters Degree programme, which involves completing a one-year, full-time research dissertation. In all cases, the project must be carried out in a manufacturing or service organisation. Approximately 20% of all taught modules are devoted to seminars and case studies presented by external practitioners.

The Graduate Diploma/Masters Degree in Quality Management programme will provide people with the necessary skills to develop TQM in Irish organisations.

Year 1

Semester 1:

Total Quality Management 1, Quality Science 1, Project 1, Information Management, Management Principles

Semester 2:

Human Resources Management, Quality Management 2, Quality Science 2, Project 2, Knowledge Management

The most important part of the study programme is the project, which runs throughout both semesters. The project should be industry-based requiring students to spend one day per week working with an organisation on a quality related initiative, e.g. implementing quality systems, generating training programmes for various levels of the workforce, introducing capability studies, Statistical Process Control, developing suitable quality related software, etc. The projects may continue during the summer months with a submission date in September.

Year 2

Dissertation.

Normally a first or second class Honours Primary degree (Level 8 - National Qualifications Authority of Ireland) or equivalent or primary degree (Level 8 NQAI) plus experience.ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTSAs all international students are required to possess sufficient language skills to attend lectures and sit examinations at the University of Limerick, students should be competent to communicate through the medium of English prior to their arrival.Students must have a minimum score of 550 (paper based) or 213 (computer based) 80 (internet based) in TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score in the range of 6.5-7 and not less than 6.0 in any one component.
