Because we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to try out university studies, access to our Diploma of Social Studies Foundations is open to everyone and all applications are accepted. We promise a personalised learning journey that will provide you with a great foundation for academic success.
This foundation diploma is designed to introduce you to university studies in a variety of social service areas. The first four courses (subjects) will help you develop an understanding of skills, issues, principles and theories needed for those considering a career in social services. You will also have the opportunity to sample another four courses from various USQ arts degrees.
Further studies
When you complete your foundation diploma you will be ready to pursue a degree in humanities. If you choose to do some further study, you may even receive up to one year off your Bachelor of Human Services or Bachelor of Social Science degree depending on the courses you select.

Entry requirements
- 18 years of age or older
- You will also need to complete online tests in mathematics, e-literacy, and English communication skills to assist staff in determining your level of reading comprehension, written expression, and mathematical understanding.
English Language Requirements
Domestic and international students from a non-English speaking background are required to satisfy English Language requirements. This program requires a minimum of IELTS 5.5 or equivalent.
If you do not meet the English language requirements you may apply to study a University-approved English language program.
