Sociology

Sociology is the scientific study of social behaviour - the study of the determinants, processes and consequences of human relationships. Specifically, sociologists may study social institutions like law, education and religion; or the behaviours associated with prison life, sex-roles, patterns of dating and marriage, and media influence. Social concerns like crime and delinquency, poverty, racial and ethnic conflict also fall within the scope of Sociology. By using a variety of research methods, sociologists work to increase our knowledge about people in society and thereby improve social conditions and the general quality of life.
