This program intends to provide pupils with the knowledge, tools and methods for defining applications requirements, performing applications design, construction, testing and maintenance activities. Graduates develop a demonstrated ability to design and construct large computer software systems and so are capable to procure lucrative technical professions in the application technology industry. Students who wish to move to additional research study needs to complete a single year-long research job in an area of applications engineering instead of the usual year-long class undertaking. Interested students should consult the program planner in their very first year of study. Students may convert to a Master of Software Engineering in the Master of Computing and Innovation after completing the equivalent of a major in computer science. Students trying to convert between amounts need to seek program advice from the Faculty of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences, as not all courses may be counted to the new level.

Accredited by the Australian Computer Society. The application is intended to provide an expert qualification in computing and information technology. In Addition, it provides the necessary educational requirements for membership of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and the Association for Computing Machinery.
