The University of Nebraska College of Law's online LL.M. program is the only program of its kind in the United States.

This 6 semester, part-time online program was created for employed individuals unable to leave their job but have a desire to respond to the growing demand for experienced practitioners in space and cyber law.

You'll "attend" classes synchronously with students who attend on-campus, with full capabilities to ask questions and participate in discussions. Coursework and thesis requirements will be the same as on-campus students with the benefit of a longer period of time to complete.

Transfer Credits

Each degree program within the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is responsible for evaluating transfer credit and determining how the credit will apply to your specific degree program.

The evaluation of transfer credit is based on a review of the comparability of the nature, content and level of the learning experience and its appropriateness to the degree program.

If you're interested in transferring credit, you will need to consult with the UNL academic department associated with your major.

Program & Courses

You have 3 years (6 semesters) to complete the required 24 credit hours.

• Complete an introductory non-credit course in American law (for students with foreign law degrees only)
• Complete or be excused from required courses*
• Complete a research paper of publishable quality (thesis)
• Attain a weighted average grade of no less than 6.0/9.0 for all courses taken at the Law College
• Attend the Lincoln or DC Annual Conferences (travel provided to 1)
• Complete 3 credit hours in-residence prior to graduation, including at least one credit during the first two semesters. The spring semester generally features several mini-courses with shortened schedules for 1-2 credits.

*Participation in 75% of each course "live" (synchronously) is required unless a waiver is obtained by the professor. Video recordings may be requested and made available in the event a "live" class must be missed.

Scholarships

The Space, Cyber, and Telecommunications LL.M. program has awarded over $100,000 in NASA grant scholarships to its previous classes of students.

All admitted students are automatically considered for scholarship awards. Admission and scholarships are competitive.

Accreditation

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, one of six regional accrediting agencies. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has been continuously accredited since 1913. The Office of Academic Affairs is responsible for coordinating University efforts to prepare for the accrediting agency’s periodic site visits and reviews. The university last underwent a comprehensive self-study and site visit during the 2006-07 academic year. The next comprehensive evaluation will be in 2016-17.
