Course Content
By focusing on the contemporary challenges and opportunities in building design, you will develop a solid understanding of issues such as:
* The current international challenge to reduce energy consumption;
* The economical need to enhance user comfort in existing and new buildings;
* The opportunities offered by novel materials and structures.
You will be able to use this insight to inform and inspire your design solutions.
This course centres round a series of design projects, through which you may investigate technologies in an interdisciplinary manner to provide innovative solutions that are supported by appropriate technical evidence, testing and modelling.

* Environmental Design in Architecture
* Advanced Environmental Design
* Tall Building Design
* Advanced Structures
* Building Design in Different Climates
* Renewable Energy Technology
* Computer Modelling and Presentation

You will spend the summer semester producing a supervised dissertation - this will be an in-depth study of an individually determined topic and is your opportunity to conduct a major piece of independent research that reflects your interests and aspirations.
Course Structure
The MArch in Technology is taught on a full-time basis over one year, or part-time over two years.
The course centres round a series of design projects, which are supported by a range of taught modules.
The taught components of this programme are worth 120 credits and are completed over the autumn and spring semester. You will then undertake a 60-credit dissertation over the summer period towards the end of the course.
