The program also promotes an awareness of sustainable development practices and encourages students to consider the environmental and social impacts of planning and policy decisions. With a flexible course structure, students can tailor their education to align with specific interests and career goals, often complemented by minor programs or internships. Faculty members are dedicated to mentoring students to become proficient problem-solvers and informed global citizens. Upon graduation, students are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue careers in government agencies, environmental consulting firms, non-profit organizations, or further study in graduate programs. Students may pursue a general program in geography or choose to develop a concentration in either environmental studies or community studies. Other concentrations may be developed to reflect the particular interests of a student. For example, a student may earn a teaching licensure while working toward a degree in geography.
Another curriculum leads to the bachelor of science degree in secondary education: Earth and Space Science (EDESC); Social Studies (EDSST) Teacher Liensure Programs; or Second Teaching Field in Secondary Education is available to students who have successfully completed an approved full licensure program in another teaching area.
