The Belgian American Educational Foundation (BAEF) is inviting U.S. citizens and permanent residents who wish to undertake postgraduate advanced studies or research in Belgium for a maximum of 12 months in AY-2022, to apply for the Fellowships for Study or Research in Belgium.
The fellowships should take place between 1 July and 31 December. Fellows should be in residence in Belgium during the tenure of their fellowship and stay for a period of 12 months. If the Fellow chooses to remain in Belgium for less than 12 months, the stipend will be prorated accordingly. The minimum fellowship period is 6 months.

Each fellowship consists of a non-renewable grant that provides for a stipend of:
• $28,000 for Master’s or Ph.D. students
• $32,000 for Post-doctoral Fellows.
In addition to the stipend, the Foundation will defray the cost of health insurance in Belgium.

Applicants must:
• be registered in a PhD or equivalent degree program in the United States at the time of application, or
• register in a graduate program (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Belgium while holding the BAEF Fellowship, or
• hold a Master’s, Ph.D., or equivalent degree.
The PhD degree obtained by post-doctoral applicants must not be more than 2 years old, as at 1 July. Applicants should make their own arrangements to register or affiliate with a Belgian University or research institution.
Knowledge of Dutch, or French, or German is optional.
