The objective of the USydIS is to attract top quality international postgraduate students to undertake research projects which will enhance the University's research activities. The USydIS is open to all research disciplines; however participation in the USydIS program Research Period 2 and Research Period 3 are at the discretion of the Dean of each faculty. These Scholarships will be awarded to eligible applicants twice a year – in October/November in conjunction with the International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS) for commencement in Research Period 2 (March), and in early April for commencement in Research Period 3 (July). The USydIS will cover tuition fees and living allowance for up to three years with a possibility of one semester's extension for PhD students.

This scholarship provides tuition fees offset and stipend to high quality international postgraduate students who wish to enrol in a research degree at Australian universities. Applications are assessed on academic merit and research potential.
Value: $35,629
RTP stipend scholarships are awarded in November, February and June. Therefore, you must submit all required documentations for your admission application, and Research Experience evidence (if applicable) to be considered in the relevant award timeline. Please note that you may be notified of your RTP scholarship outcome at a different time to receiving your offer of study.

Honours students, whose results have not yet been released can submit their Masters by Research/MPhil or PhD admission application and elect to be considered for RTP. RTP applications will be put on hold until the students have provided the Scholarships Office with their final Honours transcript. Final honours transcript can be sent via email or uploaded to the online document submission portal.
Unsuccessful applicants are encouraged to reapply if their situation changes (such as the publication of an article or further related professional experience).
RTP Stipend Scholarships: awarded to students of exceptional research potential to undertake a higher degree by research at an Australian university. These Australian government scholarships are provided to assist with general living costs.
