THUAS is an innovative environment where almost 26,000 students from nearly 150 different countries come together to share in development, networking and practice. All of our programmes revolve around group and project work and simulate real-life situations.

During interactive classes, your lecturers will ask questions, set assignments and encourage debates and presentations to hone analytical skills that are critical in business, in your future career.

THUAS has campuses in The Hague, Zoetermeer and Delft, with state of the art facilities, onsite cafés and free Wi-Fi.

Entry requirements for each programme

You may need particular subjects in your high school or pre-university results, depending on your chosen degree. Part-time degrees (all taught in Dutch) might also ask for relevant work experience.

Do you have a Dutch diploma?

Do you have a Dutch senior general secondary education (HAVO), pre-university education (VWO), vocational education (MBO-4) diploma? You can enrol on our four-year bachelor’s programmes. With a VWO you can choose a three-year degree. HAVO or VWO diplomas from Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao, Saba, St. Eustatius or St. Maarten are treated as Dutch diplomas. Please check our programmes for specific information on mandatory subjects.

Do you have an international/non-Dutch diploma?

Our Enrolment Office will decide how your international diploma compares to a Dutch diploma. You must also be proficient in the English language if the course is taught in English, or in Dutch if the course is taught in Dutch.

Language requirements

English language requirements

To enrol on a degree taught in English you must have sufficient command of the language. We accept IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC and Cambridge English FCE/CAE/CPE tests (no older than two years on 1 September 2020). The Institutional TOEFL test, TOEFL ITP tests and other language tests aren’t accepted. We only accept single test day results, not TOEFL ‘My Best Scores’. Find out more about your programme’s language requirements.

Dutch language requirements

If you’re enrolling on a Dutch-taught programme with your foreign diploma, you’ll need to show us that your Dutch is up to scratch. Take the Dutch as a Second Language, Programme II (NT2-II) state exam, which includes reading, speaking, writing and listening.

Many graduates claim that their student days were the best days of their lives. What makes this time ‘best’ is individual. Whether this means partying until the early morning hours, playing lots of sports or learning more about a specific topic by taking part in discussions or finding an interesting part-time job,

The Hague is the perfect location to become a world citizen. It’s the International City of Peace and Justice - the political and cultural heart of the Netherlands. It’s home to the Peace Palace, International Court of Justice, Binnenhof (parliament), 115 embassies, multinationals like Shell, Siemens and ING and many international NGOs. It’s a small and hospitable city with a big international heart. The Hague is bursting with culture and creativity and offers students an all-round experience, from galleries packed with Dutch masters to idyllic beaches, parks and buzzing nightclubs.

Personal development is something we value at The Hague University of Applied Sciences. Predominantly the personal development of our students, of course, but also that of ourselves and the parties with whom we collaborate. You never become a world citizen by yourself, after all. This is why we devote a great deal of attention to personal qualities, coaching and supervision.

Study & Career Centre

Prospective and current students can find answers to any of their questions at our Study & Career Centre (SCC). Prospective students can find out more about our degree programmes on Open Days and at the various information fairs. They can experience what a degree programme ‘feels like’ by shadowing or taking part in an Orientation Programme. And of course the SCC is available to provide consultations or workshops to help them make their choice. The SCC is also the first port of call for current students with questions. By providing information materials, tests, assessments and advice, the SCC assists students in making their study or career choices.

Language buddies

A great example of this are our Language Buddies: students who use their native language to help other students master that language, because they need it for their studies or future job, for example. These buddies help their pupils improve their fluency, assist with their assignments, work on presentations and prepare for examinations. In many cases they also earn credits for this themselves.

Students with a functional disability

There is a working group at The Hague University of Applied Sciences that has been set up with and for students with a functional disability. The aim is to make it easy to study and also to raise awareness of all the facilities offered by The Hague University of Applied Sciences. The working group advises on improvements and organises talks, debates and workshops to raise awareness of studying with a functional disability.

HERE’S WHY!

Let’s change! You. Us. The World. That’s our message at The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS). We want to empower you to change and improve the world you live in, but that can only happen if we work together to make a difference.

THUAS is a place where theory and practice meet - that’s what makes us a university of applied sciences. During your time with us you’ll be supported by our inspiring lecturers, fellow students and an extensive network from the professional world. When you finish your journey you’ll be able to apply your knowledge and skills right away.
