Description

Our BA Acting and Contemporary Theatre will appeal if you wish to prepare yourself for the professional demands of todays theatre, film and TV as creative actors. Teaching, which is eclectic and inspired by such practitioners as diverse as Lecoq, Gaullier, Grotowsky, Meisner and Boal, covers fundamentals in acting, improvisation, research, movement, voice and singing. Our course is accredited by the National Council for Drama Training.

Course Content

We operate a credit framework for our awards, which is based on principles widely used across the UK university sector. Each module has a credit rating attached and our standard three-year course consists of 360 credits (120 credits in your first year, and 240 credits across your second and final years).

Introduction to Acting Theory, Methods and Practice, Development from Self to Character;
Verbatim Theatre and Contemporary Scene Study;
British Plays from 1956 to 1978;
Improvised Living History;

Year 2

Theatre as a Medium of Expression I: Expressionism, Visual and Physical Theatre;
Theatre as a Medium of Expression II: Forum Theatre, Theatre Meets Film (Multi-Media), Site Specific Classics;
Voice II;

Contextual Studies II.

Year 3

New Plays;
Devised Christmas Shows;
Issue-led Theatre;
Cabaret and Improvisation;
Actor-Led Final Projects;

• Successful audition, plus A-level grades EE or BTEC Diploma grades PP, or equivalent qualification.
