The Master's in Biomedical Image Sciences is an interdisciplinary programme at the intersection of exact and biomedical sciences, focused on biomedical imaging, image processing and medical physics.
The Master's programme in Biomedical Image Sciences focuses on the rapidly-evolving area of biomedical imaging, image processing and medical physics in the broadest sense. This includes image acquisition (obtaining the best possible image), analysis (extracting necessary diagnostic information from the image), and visualisation (how to best present the image material/analyses to the medical specialist). In the first year of this two year research programme, you follow four mandatory and two optional courses, attend seminars, and take electives that either fill knowledge gaps or fulfill your personal interests in the field. The second year comprises a research project, supervised by a member of staff, in which you acquire practical training in the form of an internship, and write a scientific paper summarising your research. Part of this project may be completed within a company or at another university. You will also write a final Master's thesis on a relevant subject of your own choice. Graduates of this programme are prepared to continue with PhD studies, or to pursue a career in research institutes or industry, in both theoretical and application-oriented fields.
This programme will end in 2015
